Granville Gardens Retirement Residence
Granville Gardens is a 62unit seniors assisted living project located along an arterial street, and at the edge of a residential neighbourhood. The project integrates into the scale of the surrounding single-family neighborhood and becomes an urban oasis defined by four distinct gardens. The building is designed with neutral tones and wood accents to complement the texture and colours of the planting and landscape features of the gardens. Materials and colours of the gardens are brought in the interior which expands the views out, and create a connection to nature and the surrounding environment.

The project is designed around 4 distinct gardens that follows the movement of the sun during the day and expresses the colours of the seasons throughout the year. Views are layered incorporating elements of the context beyond using the Japanese garden technique of shakkei. By doing so the eye is naturally directed beyond the extents of the site, making a natural connection to nature and the surrounding context.
